SING FOR SCIENCE

Margo Price and Dr. Monica Maclemore

November 2nd, 2022

On the episode, Margo Price talks about her song with Mavis Staples and Adia Victoria, "Fight To Make It." Proceeds from the song are donated to NOISE FOR NOW to raise awareness and support for reproductive justice. Whyte and Price talk also about Margo’s correspondence with Ronnie Spector, her experience advocating for reproductive healthcare in Tennessee and the tragic loss of one of her children in infancy.

She is joined by Dr. Monica McLemore, nurse scientist and reproductive healthcare advocate, who discusses the often surprising statistics uncovered by reproductive healthcare research. She was an expert witness in the Supreme Court’s Dobbs case and brings an unparalleled level of expertise to the conversation on abortion.

OUR BODIES DESERVE RESPECT Trans Awareness Campaign

November, 2021

2021 saw a record-breaking number of anti-trans bills introduced in states across the US, making it the worst year on record for anti-trans legislation. It’s no coincidence that the same is true for anti-abortion legislation. This wave of oppressive bills seeks to control our bodies.

OUR BODIES DESERVE RESPECT.

From gender affirming care to abortion, transgender individuals face barriers in accessing sexual and reproductive health care including a lack of providers who are sufficiently knowledgeable, lack of cultural competence among providers, discrimination, and financial and socioeconomic barriers. NOISE FOR NOW worked with the artist Xavier Schipani to create the shirt and tote bag for this campaign. Proceeds go to Texas Health Action’s Kind Clinic, which serves the LGBTQIA+ community with locations across Texas at no cost for all services; and Independent Abortion Clinics with trans-centered programs throughout the US via Abortion Care Network’s Keep Our Clinics.

NOISE FOR NOW X Propeller: Reproductive Freedom Campaign

Reproductive Rights are under fire like never before. Already this year 90 state-level abortion restrictions have been enacted, making this the worst year for abortion rights and access ever. The 15 week Mississippi ban will be heard by the Supreme Court this fall, and on September 1st Texas's extreme 6 week ban went into effect, forcing Texans to travel to neighboring states for abortion care. State level bans disproportionately affect BIPOC, people living in poverty, and those living in rural areas of the country.

NOISE FOR NOW has teamed up with Propeller to raise money for the already overburdened heroes on the ground: Independent Reproductive Healthcare / Abortion Clinics (Keep Our Clinics) and Abortion Funds (National Network of Abortion Funds), as well as the Center For Reproductive Rights who will be the legal defense in the Supreme Court case challenging Roe V Wade.

Take action HERE and earn rewards for doing so.

Our reproductive justice work encompasses a wide range of issues, including fighting pregnancy discrimination in the workplace, securing age-appropriate sex education in our schools, and protecting Tennesseans' ability to make personal, private decisions about pregnancy and abortion."

About CHOICES Memphis Center for Reproductive Health: CHOICES is an independent, nonprofit reproductive health clinic in Memphis, TN. Offering services such as abortion care, hormone management for transgender patients, HIV testing and prevention, no-cost birth control, and midwife-led prenatal care and births, CHOICES’ model of comprehensive, patient-centered care is making waves in the reproductive health community. 1973 TEE CAMPAIGN

Donations to the Yellowhammer Fund made and encouraged

May 17-19, 2019 - Hangout Fest - Gulf Shores, AL

In 1973, U.S. Supreme Court case, Roe v. Wade, affirmed that access to safe and legal abortion is constitutional right.

Just days after Alabama passed the most aggressive abortion ban in the nation to date, NOISE FOR NOW delivered shirts with 1973 emblazoned across the chest to 11 performers on the festivals line up. These artists wore the shirts onstage, and spoke out against Alabama’s ban from stage and on social media with language that we provided. Many of these artists donated, and encouraged fans to donate to the Yellowhammer Fund, which provides financial assistance to those seeking abortion in the state of Alabama.

Participating Artists: The Lumineers, Vampire Weekend, Diplo, Walk The Moon, Lovelytheband, Morgxn, Slenderbodies, Michael Clifford, Grandson, Chika, Buddy
